Pajama Party Crop
135+ pajamas, 125 books, over 40 pairs of socks and more than $350…Wow! What an incredible show of support…And there are still more pj’s & books coming in…I am so glad that everyone seemed to have a good time cropping and chatting in their pj’s! I was freaking out when I walked into the room at 9:00 a.m. that morning and there were no tables set up! My sister Dianna and I along with Christine, a wonderful volunteer from Romeo High School’s “Serve Group,” put together as many tables as we could in twenty minutes. After explaining the minor snafu to each cropper as they poured in, I admit I got teary at one point…I really felt bad about the lack of space. When the coffee showed up late, I really got nervous! Nevertheless, the day went on without too much drama.
With bagels provided by Big Apple Bagels (23 Mile & Van Dyke), coffee by Starbucks (23 Mile & M-53), donuts from Tim Horton’s (21 Mile & Van Dyke) and even a bouquet of fresh fruit by Fresh Fruit Bouquet (West Bloomfield location), breakfast was a yummy spread. For the all-you-can-eat lunch, pizza was donated by John at Sorrento’s of Utica and was a big crowd pleaser. Kristine at Buddy’s (13 Mile & Van Dyke) made it complete with her donation of Antipasto Salad, which was fabulous! Thanks to Mike at the 18 Mile & Dequindre Kmart, we had all of the plates, napkins, cups, utensils and 2-liters of pop we could handle. Read the rest of this entry »
